The Rotaract Club of Tortola joined its many counterparts worldwide to celebrate World Rotaract Week from March 10th – 16th. This is celebrated every year to commemorate the commencement of Rotaract internationally which was established in 1968.

The club had a very fun and eventful week of service and fellowship which included activities such as:
.
Sunday - a church service at the Cane Garden Bay Baptist Church, followed by brunch.
.
Monday – The Rotaract Club and the Interact Club of Road Town performed a joint service project by cleaning the mangroves in Sea Cow’s Bay.
Tuesday – Hosted both the Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town and the Rotary Club of Road Town’s meetings.

Wednesday – donated 8 cases of Printing Paper, 16 packs of Dry-board Markers, 1 Volleyball net and 5 Volleyballs to the Elmore Stoutt High School.

Thursday – hosted sponsor club, the Rotary Club of Tortola’s Meeting.

Friday – held a fundraiser at Government House entitled “Stars for a Cause”, which raised $5,200.00 for worthy causes such as the Old Government House Museum, VISAR, BVI Humane Society, the Rotaract Scholarship Fund and Ms. Kaidija Martin. The Stars; namely His Excellency, the Governor Boyd McCleary, Phil Aspinall, Dalan Vanterpool, DJ Bertrum and Darryll Bess (BayRoc Clothing) each represented a cause and patrons were able to make donations of any amount to the various charities. However, the highest donors received a sponsored package as well as a personal package from the Star.

Saturday – honoured the club’s members at the 1st Annual Rotaract Awards Show and party to end the week.

The club would like to thank everyone who assisted in making this week such a great success. About Rotaract
Rotaract is an international club for persons ages 18 to 30 who want to make a difference within their community. The Rotaract Club of Tortola started in June 1984 by sponsoring club, the Rotary Club of Tortola. This year’s club motto is, “Be passionate about what you do today for a brighter tomorrow.”

Rotaract Club of Tortola meets every Friday at the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (Ward Bldg.) at 5:30pm. The meetings feature speakers, discussions, visits from other clubs and at all times, fun. Rotaractors also get together for service projects, social activities and leadership workshops.
